Retailers, restaurants press Congress for technical fixes in GOP tax law
A group of more than 100 retailers, restaurants and trade groups are urging Congress to take “quick action” on making two technical corrections to the tax law that President Trump signed last year.
“The delay in correcting these provisions has caused economic hardship for some retailers and restaurants and is also delaying investments across the economy that impact the communities in which these companies are doing business,” the businesses and groups said in a letter sent Tuesday to the top Republicans and Democrats on the congressional tax-writing committees.

Nearly half of San Francisco Bay Area voters plan to leave the region in the next few years, fed up with exorbitant housing costs and the long commutes caused by the lack of available homes near their workplaces.
Less than 48 hours before polls open for the California election, the business-sponsored Bay Area Council advocacy group released its annual survey of registered voters in the nine-county Bay Area showing that 46 percent are likely to move away, the highest percentage in three years.
Bay Area employers are losing talent and many companies are relocating to more affordable housing venues in the state, or much more likely, leaving California altogether…

Equity Residential, Sares-Regis Group and Fairfield Residential have all inked deals with HomeShare, a roommate matching service platform for renters that is so far operational in a handful of properties in five high-rent markets.
HomeShare`s platform uses proprietary tech to find compatible housemate groups for would-be renters, based on personality and lifestyle habits. Landlords realize that home-sharing is a growing trend, especially for renters in expensive markets, HomeShare founder and CEO Jeff Pang told Commercial Observer….
Tech Firm Launches Property-Matching Service For Tenants, Targets Former Xceligent Customers
The December shutdown of Xceligent left thousands of commercial real estate brokers without a data platform, a void that industry giant CoStar quickly swooped in to fill. Now one new player aims to court those users.
Jim Simpson, the founder of Minneapolis-based commercial real estate software company Crelow, is relaunching the service under a new brand, DealBoard.org, and has already landed his first big client. ..

Off-Market Multifamily Sellers Are Leaving A Ton Of Money On The Table
CHICAGO — Marketing a property can increase the sale price by up to 23%, which runs counter to the idea that off-market deals can achieve higher values because a buyer will be more aggressive to seal a trade.
“The perception is when a seller has one buyer vying for an asset, that buyer is more aggressive and willing to pay a premium because they don’t want the seller to get into a bidding war for the property. Our research found the opposite,” KIG CRE Managing Partner Todd Stofflet said.

Knoxville Center Mall still plans revival despite Sears departure
There’s a lot of room for change at Knoxville Center.
News Thursday that the mall’s Sears location will close in July is the latest in a long list of departures for the former East Towne Mall, which opened in 1984. But it was no surprise to mall owner Knoxville Partners LLC, according to Patrick King, Knoxville Partners spokesman.
